Helen Irene Barndt

Helen Irene Barndt, 88, of Somerset, died February 26, 2026 at UPMC Somerset. Born July 18, 1937 in Somerset, she is the daughter of John C. and Laura M. (Howard) Arden Sr. Preceded in death by her parents and sister Arlene Butler. Survived by her husband Ralph B. Barndt to whom she was married 67 years, daughters Amy Brainard of Ogdensburg, NY and Beth Costea and husband Steve of Somerset, grandchildren Robert Brainard and wife Dawn, Danielle Brainard, Eric Brainard, Eric Costea and Emily Graybill and husband Benjamin, great-granddaughter Layla and brother John C. Arden Jr. and wife Sharon of Somerset. Helen was a 1955 graduate of Somerset High School, she worked for A&P Supermarket, George's Men's Shop and Stahl's Jewelry until her retirement. She attended St. Paul's Presbyterian Church and was an award winning quilter. Friends received 4-8 p.m. Saturday March 7, 2026 at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, and 1-2 p.m. Sunday March 8, 2026 at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Somerset, where a service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. with Reverend Michael Dunlap officiating.
