Donald Ray Shaffer

Donald Ray Shaffer, 83, of Somerset, died February 19, 2026 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born February 26, 1942 in Black Twp. he is the son of Delver and June (Reckner) Shaffer. Preceded in death by his parents and grandson Spencer Fike. Survived by his wife the former Joyce Ann Weigle to whom he was married 60 years, children Donald Shaffer of Somerset, Brenda Fike and husband Alan of Trafford, Douglas Shaffer and wife Wendy of Somerset and Mary Dickey and husband Brad of Listie, grandchildren Lily Shaffer, Zach and Travis Fike, Seth Shaffer and wife Sydney, McKenna and Trevor Shaffer, Brandi and Morgan Dickey, sister Joyce Hetzer and husband Jake and brother Delver Shaffer. Don was a 1960 graduate of Somerset High School, he was a US Army Veteran, owned/operated his own truck for 10 years and retired as a truck driver. He was also a member of the Teamster's Union, and loved camping and taking vacations with his family. The family would like to thank the staff at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, and from 10-11 a.m Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church, Somerset, where a service will immediately follow at 11 a.m with Reverend Kathleen Stump officiating.
